The 5 Reiki Principles

The 5 Reiki Principles

When Mikao Usui developed the practice of reiki in 1922, he also established five principles for his students to follow. While these guidelines are not required for anyone to receive or administer reiki, they can be helpful in both your personal and professional life. Let's take a look at the five reiki principles and how you can use them in your own life.

Just for today, I will not anger.
This principle is about managing your emotions and reactions to the events that occur in your life. We all get angry from time to time, but it's important to try to stay calm and level-headed. One way to do this is by practicing mindfulness. When you find yourself getting angry, take a few deep breaths and allow yourself to cool down before reacting. This will help you avoid saying or doing something that you might regret later on.

Just for today, I will not worry.
This principle is about letting go of stress and anxiety. Worrying does nothing but create unnecessary stress in our lives. If you find yourself worrying about something, ask yourself if there is anything you can do to change the situation. If there isn't, then let it go and focus on enjoying the present moment.

Just for today, I will be grateful.
This principle is about being thankful for what you have instead of dwelling on what you don't have. When we focus on gratitude, we open ourselves up to receiving even more good things into our lives. So, take a moment each day to think about something or someone you're grateful for. It could be as simple as being grateful for a warm bed to sleep in at night or having a job that you enjoy going to every day.

Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
This principle is about being honest with yourself and others. It's important to always speak and act with integrity if you want to maintain healthy relationships with those around you. Additionally, being honest with yourself will help you stay true to your values and principles.

Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.
This principle is about compassionately interacting with all beings, whether they are human or animal. When we act out of kindness, we open up the possibility of receiving kindness in return. Additionally, treating others well has a ripple effect that can positively impact the world around us in ways we may never even realize.

While the 5 Reiki Principles are not required for anyone to receive or administer reiki energy healing, they can be helpful guidelines for living a more joyful and peaceful life. When we focus on gratitude, Compassionately interacting with others , managing our emotions ,and worries we open up the opportunity for greater blessings in many areas of our lives . Try incorporating one or two of these principles into your daily routine and see how it feels!
